Getting Started – How Remote Tuning Works
Step 1: Place Your Order & Submit Vehicle Information
Complete the tuning order form with as much accurate information as possible.
Include your vehicle details, current modifications, fuel type, and performance goals.
If you already own a compatible HP Tuners MPVI device:
Read your vehicle's stock ECU calibration using HP Tuners VCM Editor and attach the original read file to your order.
If you selected "NEED MPVI4":
An HP Tuners MPVI4 interface will be shipped to you. Once received, connect the device to your vehicle, read the stock ECU calibration using VCM Editor, and email the file to us.
Additional HP Tuners licensing, credits, or ECU access requirements may apply depending on the vehicle and model year.
Step 2: Receive Your Initial Base Tune
Once we have reviewed your vehicle information and original calibration, we will prepare your initial custom base tune.
Your initial tune file will be identified as:
BASE_TUNE_VIN
IMPORTANT: This is a preliminary calibration intended for startup and initial datalogging only. It is NOT a completed performance tune and must not be used for aggressive driving or wide-open-throttle operation.
Step 3: Initial Datalogging – REQUIRED
Datalogging is mandatory for all remote tuning services.
Using HP Tuners VCM Scanner and the supplied channels.xml configuration file, record the following as separate datalogs:
-
Cold Start / Warm-Up: Record the engine starting from cold and progressing toward normal operating temperature.
-
Idle: Record the engine idling at normal operating temperature.
-
Light Cruise: Once the air/fuel readings and other operating parameters appear normal, perform a short, light-throttle cruise.
Do not perform wide-open-throttle pulls during this stage.
Email your completed datalogs to:
Email Subject: ORDER # [Your Order Number]
Our tuning team will review the data and determine whether calibration adjustments are required before proceeding.
Step 4: Tune Revisions & Additional Logging
After reviewing your initial datalogs, we may provide a revised calibration.
Additional datalogging will be required to verify changes and progressively refine the calibration for your vehicle.
Do not proceed to wide-open-throttle testing until you have received explicit authorization from us.
Step 5: Wide-Open-Throttle (WOT) Datalogging
Once your initial datalogs have been reviewed and your vehicle is operating correctly, we will provide instructions for further performance logging.
When specifically authorized, this may include a brief 3–5 second WOT (Wide Open Throttle) datalog under appropriate, controlled testing conditions.
-
Ensure the engine is at normal operating temperature.
-
Use the supplied HP Tuners VCM Scanner configuration.
-
Only perform the test when specifically instructed.
-
Maintain traction throughout the test.
-
If the tires spin or traction is lost, discontinue the test. Another valid datalog may be required.
-
Submit the completed datalog for review.
WOT testing should only be conducted on a suitable chassis dynamometer or closed-course facility with appropriate safety precautions.
Do not perform additional WOT pulls until your datalog has been reviewed and further instructions have been provided.
Step 6: Final Calibration Refinement
We will continue reviewing your submitted datalogs and making the necessary calibration adjustments until the tuning process is completed.
Our goal is to deliver a custom calibration tailored to your vehicle's specific combination of modifications, fuel, and operating characteristics.
We take the time to review the data rather than simply sending out a generic, one-size-fits-all tune.
IMPORTANT – Please Read Before Tuning
Just because your Mustang feels strong, sounds great, and appears to run perfectly does NOT mean the calibration is finalized.
A vehicle can feel excellent while still requiring adjustments to fueling, ignition timing, torque management, or other critical calibration parameters.
DO NOT perform additional wide-open-throttle pulls or aggressive driving while waiting for a tune revision.
Every submitted datalog must be reviewed before proceeding to the next stage.
We approach each calibration with the same level of care and attention we would expect for our own personal vehicles.
At Krazy On Highways Inc., our priority is delivering a properly reviewed, data-driven custom tune—not rushing the process.
